As we get closer to the end of June, more and more Professional leagues are getting ready to resume their 2019-2020 seasons. Here's a list of some of the notable leagues coming back:
MLS: July 8th
NWSL: June 27th
Liga MX: July 24th
Premier League: June 17th
Serie A: June 20th
La Liga: June 11th
Of course, football fans around the world have a right to be excited about football returning to our tv screens. Having been locked up in our homes for months has done less to keep us entertained and in shape. There's no doubt that we want the sport back but the question begs to differ, "Is the world ready for the return of football?
Let's be frank, the coronavirus has not disappeared completely. In the United States, the number of confirmed cases has hit 2,000,000 in the country with the resurgence of outbreaks in several states including Arizona.
Now you can argue that the United States has its own problems and Europe, have definitely handled the job a bit better with keeping the virus contained (you can bash us it's alright). You can even argue that aside from the common everyday people getting sick, athletes and sports officials will be better looked after which may be true.
As Premier League teams set up practice matches in lieu of the league restart, we can't help but think that even with all of the precautionary measures, the reboot for pro leagues to return may be premature.
