SQD 5's Tournament 2022 Registration
When: Saturday, August 20th
Registration Deadline: August 14th
It's time. The SQD 5's Tournament is here! Sign-up begins today. 8 Teams, 1 Winner, and 20 minutes are all you got. Show your worth for the Inaugural SQD 5's Tournament!! Only teams in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area can enter.
Each game lasts 20 minutes. That's right two ten-minute halves to show what you and your squad can do! Make sure to bring a keeper with you because shots will be flying!
One thing, though, is that goals can only be scored past the half-line (sorry keepers, but you can still assist like Ederson).
One more thing keepers, NO PUNTING. It's 5v5 who are you punting it to? Drop kicks? Meh, go ahead and try to keep it in bounds.
The first kickoff will start at 9:00am, August 20th on the dot so get there early.
Are you a fan of social media? This tournament will be filmed for our social media channels. If you haven't followed us yet check us out @sqdtv_ on IG! Don't want to be filmed? Don't worry, we'll be sending your captain a waiver and liability form to make sure you know what you're getting into.
This is our first tournament so take it easy! And remember this is for CHARITY! We're all out here to have fun!
Is there an age requirement?
It is a 16 and over tournament. Players under 18 need parent/guardian consent. Forms will be given if necessary.
What happens if a team is late, or cannot field an entire 5 man team?
A team has 10 minutes to show up. If they aren’t able to field at least 3 players it’s an automatic forfeit. The signup requires you to field at a minimum of 5 players and a max of 7. If the team does not have 5 then they’re scrapped from the tournament.
Will there be a losers bracket? Or is it single elimination?
With the designated 8 teams, single elimination. If we host with uneven teams it will mean a change in the bracket structure which will require a change in the bracket system.
Will water be provided?
Yes but make sure to bring your own.
Are we allowed to sell anything?
No, the tournament is focused strictly on football.
How will we handle an uneven number of teams? Will a team get a "bye"? If so, how is that determined?
That will have to be fixed closer to the date. It depends on how many teams show up and the free agency pool.
Are more than 5 players allowed on a team? Will substitutes be allowed? If so, are they allowed during the game or in-between games?
Each team is required to have 5 players minimum of 7 players max. Subs are futsal standard, on the fly.
Do referees have the final say in the enforcement of rules, or can they have outside counsel? If so, who gets to be "game master"?
Referees will always have the final say. Of course, someone will be there to regulate things but whatever call is made on the pitch stays on the pitch.
Is the tournament Co-ed?
Yes, it is! The more footballers, the merrier!
What happens if I have a player 18 and under?
They will need to fill out a Parent/Guardian Consent and a Liability Waiver Form before participating in the tournament.
Don't have a team? You can enter the free agency pool here:
